Lee Wang
Lee is a passionate chess coach and current medical student at the University of British Columbia, with a BSc in Honours Physiology. A former Team Nova Scotia player at the Canadian Chess Championship and seasoned competitor at the Nova Scotia Closed, he brings over six years of coaching experience from the Vancouver Chess School. His approach is student-centred, encouraging strategic thinking and self-reflection both on and off the board.
In addition to teaching chess, Lee has worked as a Teaching Assistant at UBC and contributed to research across fields such experimental therapeutic for cancer treatment, and development and manufacturing of mRNA-LNP.
A fun fact about him: Lee once landed a job in biopharmaceutical manufacturing thanks to his cooking skills—proof that great technique and timing matter both in the lab and the kitchen!
My Courses
Lee teaches chess for beginner and intermediate level all the way up to player who has 1500 Elo rating.
He is also involved in our academic mentorship program for students who are preparing for med school.
